LEADERSHIP
At some point we must decide if we want our leadership to impressed or influence us. You can impress people from a distance but you must get close to influence people. When you get close to people they can also see your flaws, but that is okay. Everyone has weaknesses and we usually deny them but admitting brings honesty. Our strengths create competition but our weaknesses create community. The most important quality for leadership is not strength or perfection but credibility. How do you build positive credibility? People must be able to see honesty in you to trust you.To overcome the corruption in our community we need honest leadership, working in unity and integrety to improve our community. We need a Band governance that fullfills these qualifies to influence the young people and change the negative enviornment of Cat Lake.

The community of Cat Lake has been going in and out of deficit for number of years now and we should make some serious plans now where we want to go in the future. We seem to be in this cycle of getting into deficit again and again over the last decade. We should seriously investigate the reasons why and make a plan the local governance can follow to get us out of this situation. It does not do us any good as a community what so ever.In the book The 7 Habits of Effective People the author explains what we must do to change our ways, habits in order to get out of bad habits, that create our situations. We have become so dependent over the years on Federal government dollars, welfare dollars that we accept it as normal. This dependency is a problem that creates a situation where people just expect to be given money and be looked after. In the old days native people were independent, worked hard to survive off the land, hunting, fishing, gathering what they needed. They were not dependent on government to look after them.Dependence.........Independence.........InterindependenceThese are the steps identified. We as a community and you as a person must make decisions to move from dependence to independence and go further into interdependence.Sounds very complicated but it is easy if you understand the concept. You must learn it first and once you learn you have to make that decision to move forward. There will be people, the right kind that will help you meet your goals to become independent.
